Chairman
Chairman Triantafilou (pronounced tree-aunt-a-FEE-loo) is a lifelong resident of western Hamilton County. A graduate of Oak Hills High School, Alex Triantafilou completed his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Cincinnati and received his law degree from the Salmon P. Chase College of Law. A practicing lawyer since 1996, Chairman Triantafilou spent nearly six years in the Hamilton County Prosecutor's Office handling hundreds of cases in court every day.
In January of 2003, Chairman Triantafilou moved to the position of Administrator of the Hamilton County Clerk of Court's Office. As Administrator, he oversaw the daily operations of the Clerk 's office under former Clerk of Courts Greg Hartmann. Chairman Triantafilou lead a staff of over 320 employees and managed a budget of over $15,000,000.00. The office collected revenue in excess of $130,000,000.00.
Chairman Triantafilou was first appointed then won election to the Hamilton County Municipal Court in 2005. As one of the youngest judges in Hamilton County, he presided over thousands of cases including misdemeanor crimes and civil disputes less than $15,000. After a successful period on the Municipal Court, Chairman Triantafilou was named to the Hamilton County Court of Common Pleas in December 2006. As Judge on the Court of Common Pleas, Chairman Triantafilou presided over serious felony cases including capital murder, felonious assault, aggravated robbery, rape, and serious drug offenses. Chairman Triantafilou also presided over serious civil disputes including mass tort litigation, class-action lawsuits, and serious business and contractual matters.
During the period before serving as a Judge, Chairman Triantafilou managed and consulted on many political campaigns including serving as Vice-Chairman of the Bush-Cheney 2004 campaign. He is a former president of the Green Township Republican Club as well as a former member of the Republican Executive and Judicial Screening Committees.
In March 2008, Chairman Triantafilou resigned his position as Judge on the Hamilton County Court of Common Pleas and was elected as the new chairman of the Hamilton County Republican Party replacing George H. Vincent.
As Chairman of the Hamilton County Republican Party, Alex Triantafilou has pushed for innovations in online communication. He has also made finding, fielding, recruiting and retaining great candidates for public office the #1 job of the local party.
Chairman Triantafilou has been a leader and volunteer in many areas outside of law and politics:
President of Board of Trustees for the CORE Behavioral Health Centers, Inc.
Served as Legal Advisor to the Oak Hills High Mock Trial Team
Served as a Mentor through the Cincinnati Youth Collaborative Mentoring Program
Named one of Cincinnati's "40 under 40" in 2005
Served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at the Salmon P. Chase College of Law
Served as an Adjunct Instructor for the American Paralegal Training Association
Served on the Board of Trustees of the Cincinnati Bar Association
In 2010, Chairman Triantafilou was named to Cincy Magazine's "Power 100." Chairman Triantafilou currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the Talbert House and also serves on the Board of the Cincinnati Bar Foundation.
He is the father of one son, Michael, and proudly serves as Manager for his baseball team. Alex is also a parishioner of the Holy Trinity-St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church.
