Major Brad Wenstrup to Run for Mayor of Cincinnati - Letter from Major Wenstrup
In my quest for Mayor, I will suggest innovative ideas that will keep our city competitive, attract new residents and visitors and build a strong community. We are a city with a beautiful history, definitive landmarks and unique neighborhoods. I believe with new, invigorating ideas we can reach new heights and continue to prosper. First and foremost, the current streetcar proposal is hugely irresponsible and poorly planned. An expenditure of over $130 million taxpayer dollars that will be used for the current proposal needs to be spent on other opportunities. The result of building a streetcar system does not promise economic stability or create a vibrant downtown atmosphere but it does secure an enormous deficit for many years. If elected mayor, I hope to bring transparency and fiscal responsibility to the citizens of Cincinnati. Just as families are expected to create responsible budgets for their household, I plan to make frugal and intelligent decisions with public monies. Tax dollars belong to the citizens, and those dollars need to be spent in ways that build our community. A stronger city can only be achieved by focusing on public safety. I vow to work collaboratively with our county administration to solve a significant problem on the issue of jail space. My priority will be to meet with our county commissioners, county sheriff, our city police chief and form a task force to address the problem that this county faces. We must have a Mayor who believes strongly in public safety and will make it a top priority by supporting law enforcement and supporting community leaders who want our streets protected. Lastly, if elected Mayor I vow to have an open door to the citizens of Cincinnati. We will grow as a community by sharing ideas, communicating issues and solving tough problems. Please join me in this quest! Dr. Brad Wenstrup Candidate for Mayor of Cincinnati
