Republican Party Endorses Slate for Cincinnati City Council

The Hamilton County Republican Party’s Non-Judicial Nominating Committee announced today the endorsement of five candidates to run for Cincinnati City Council in November. According to the Party’s Constitution, the Executive Committee will meet to have a final vote on the endorsement. Candidates that received the endorsement are: Councilman Chris Monzel, Councilwoman Leslie Ghiz, Former Councilman Charlie Winburn, George Zamary and Amy Murray.
Councilman Chris Monzel is entering his eighth year on Cincinnati City Council. He is employed as an engineer at General Electric Aircraft Engines and resides in Spring Grove Village with his wife and three children.
Councilwoman Leslie Ghiz is currently serving her fourth year on Cincinnati City Council. She practices law at her downtown law firm and resides in North Avondale with her husband and newborn.
Former Councilman Charlie Winburn resides in College Hill with his wife and two children and serves as the Executive Pastor at The Church in College Hill. He previously served on Cincinnati City Council for seven years. He lost his bid for election in 2007 by a slim margin of 1,200 votes.
Attorney George Zamary is a lawyer at Buckley King, LPA and resides in Hyde Park with his wife who is expecting a child in June. George has been active in numerous community organizations such as Know Theatre of Cincinnati and the Mercantile Library.
Amy Murray is President of The Japan Consulting Group and resides in Hyde Park with her husband and two children. She previously worked at Procter & Gamble in Global Customer Development and as an Adjunct Professor of Marketing at Xavier University.
The Hamilton County Republican Party Non-Judicial nominating committee is expected to meet at a future date to consider endorsements in the race for Mayor of Cincinnati, for the Cincinnati Public Schools Board of Education, and to consider any other business.
